School Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care

At the heart of the St. Lucie Family is the St Lucie’s Chapel which is a landmark building within the institution and marks a significant landmark to the surrounding community. Do you very often hear singing and music coming from the praise and worship through the Chapel windows? Constructed out of reinforced concrete and natural stone, the school Chapel was intentionally raised to a height of 1.5 meters off the ground to avoid any interference to the congregation as they worship. The roofing is set with a concrete slab with a red tile finish that blends well with other school buildings. The chapel has a sitting capacity of six hundred people and two sacristies. It is provided with a vinscot cantata organ whose sacred music instills the right mood worship.

The magnificent church is managed by a resident chaplain, who also coordinates guidance and counseling in the school. We do have Holy mass frequently, in addition to daily evening prayers. Parents and guardians are invited occasionally for collective spiritual nourishment, on a need-be basis.

Pastoral care is paramount at St. Lucie and is at the heart of who we are. The school chaplain is active in promoting students’ well-being in the school and assists the school counselors and staff in the provision of student welfare services; In addition, the school chaplain encourages reflection about the spiritual dimensions of life and offers an educative role in the areas of beliefs, values, morals, ethics, and religion.

The school Chaplain is readily available to provide continuity and ongoing support for individual students and staff where this is necessary
